Combat Skin Dryness With This 3 Step Routine November 07 2019


Tight, dull, dry, itchy – we all experience dry skin, especially as the weather gets cooler. We’ve compiled a simple 3 step product guide to help keep skin hydrated + radiant all season long!

 

WAKE UP YOUR SKIN

Daily dry brushing in the morning is a fantastic way to wake up the skin + our lymphatic system, kickstarting our skin’s natural ability to regulate itself. Facial dry brushing can be done first thing in the morning on dry skin, prior to cleansing or using any other skincare products. This ritual imparts a myriad of benefits, such as lightly exfoliating the top surface of skin and stimulating cellular turnover. Gently dry brushing every morning can prevent symptoms of dryness such as flakiness, dullness and rough texture. Our skin will feel smoother, brighter and stronger with sustained practice of this ritual. 


PREP YOUR SKIN 

Since we want our skincare products to work to the best of their abilities, we need to properly prepare our skin to receive them. With dryness often comes a build up of dead skin cells that block our ability to absorb what we’re applying topically. Think of it like putting moisturizer on your feet with socks on - it just doesn’t make sense! To receive the full benefits of our moisturizers, balms, serums, lotions and potions we need to first remove any barriers blocking their absorption. Exfoliation is the best way to remove excess build up and allow our skin to breathe. Using our gentle and effective Regenerating + Stimulating Exfoliator every 3 days will allow all of our skincare products to penetrate deeply into the layers of our skin for maximum efficacy. The oat base of our exfoliant retains moisture and is non-irritating. Regular exfoliation will have our skin feeling polished, fresh and renewed. Add a touch of raw unpasteurized honey to our exfoliator for extra antibacterial and soothing benefits! 


HYDRATE YOUR SKIN 

Our skin should feel hydrated every day of the year, however navigating our 4 changing seasons and constant fluctuations in our skin can be challenging. It’s best to cultivate an understanding of how our skin feels each day and what it’s trying to tell us. Our skin can still feel dehydrated in the depths of a humid summer, it’s not just winter dryness that we have to worry about! Key signs that our skin is dehydrated are: tightness, flakiness, rough texture, and dullness. Our skin can also feel more sensitive and lines can be more pronounced when we’re lacking ample moisture levels. We recommend layering hydrating products together for a vibrant, glowing complexion. 

Our first step in hydrating our skin is Invigorating + Balancing Toner! This beautiful floral essence balances our skin’s PH and aids in the absorption of facial serums. Follow it with an oil based face serum, such as our Rejuvenating + Hydrating Face Serum,  that can be deeply massaged into the skin for added benefits (try our Natural Facelift Ritual). It’s imperative to layer something more substantial onto our face serum for hydration inside + out. Our face serum will penetrate deep into the layers of our skin, and a lotion or balm moisturizer will sit on the top surface. Using our Nourishing + Revitalizing Moisturizer will add a light layer of moisture, whereas our Protecting + Restoring Face Balm is a richer, thicker, more protecting layer. Both products will keep moisture inside while protecting the skin from harsh outside elements.
