New product hint: Hibiscus Flower July 28 2015


Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, with several hundred species native to warm, tropical regions. Hibiscus is high in vitamin and antioxidants, and has a chemical composition of Phosphorous, Calcium, Riboflavin, Vitamin C, and Carotene, making it a powerful remedy for improving hair growth, strength and darkening hair colour.

Many cultures enjoy hibiscus tea, made from the flowers and served both hot and cold. In addition to Egypt, West Africa, Mexico, India, and Brazil enjoy the tangy flavor of hibiscus tea, which is also a favorite in Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. Try out our Hibiscus Punch recipe below for a refreshing summertime drink.

Recipe: Hibiscus Punch

Bring 4 cups of water to boil, remove from heat.
Add 1/4 cup of raw, organic cane sugar (or honey)
1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers
Steep covered for 15 minutes
Strain well and pour into a pitcher 
Add 3 cups cold water and orange slices
Add ice to make it extra refreshing
